SUPPORT FOR SCHOOLS

The Quality Teaching Strategy (QTS) articulates the Department’s stance on quality teaching. Teaching For Impact, Leading Cultures of Teaching Excellence (LCoTE) and the Culture Survey form the building blocks of this strategy.

Joondalup ESC is a Quality Teaching Lead School and was part of cohort 4 in LCoTE. In 2023 we completed the Culture Survey as a school and have implemented strategies to be responsive to the needs of our students, staff and community.

As a QTS school we offer multi-tiered layers of support for other schools. From explicit professional learning days and opportunities to school partnerships or in school support Joondalup ESC welcome opportunities to work together. We closely align what we do with the Teaching for Impact document and show explicit links in all our professional learning and interactions with other schools.

Want to get in touch? Schools can request support through the QTS RFA process. Below is a link, just remember to request our school in the form.

Professional Learning

We host several professional learning opportunities throughout the year through PLIS. Our training focus include assessment, conditions for learning, numeracy, literacy, de-escalation, and modules for BAET.

Below is a list of the PL that has been offered throughout the school year;

  • Foundational Skills – assessment tool that supports our early learners to engage in pre curriculum skills for learning.
  • Foundations of Number – the building blocks to explicitly teach number skills.
  • Foundations of Comprehension – the building blocks to explicitly teach comprehension skills.
  • Team Teach –de-escalation and positive handling strategies.

School based support

Joondalup ESC creates opportunities for others to see our work in action. From school tours (indoor and outdoor learning environments), or teaching in action, the teaching cycle or planning and implementation meetings we can work together as whole school, learning area or toward specific outcomes.

This can be reflected in our school or at your school.

Partnership Support

Through the QTS strategy there are opportunities to partner together toward a specific goal for your school. This partnership is over a period of time with a targeted goal working toward improvement or implementation within your school.
